Then without further ado, here are 10 TV shows that should whet your appetite after watching Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce).

1. Lady In Dignity

Similarities – Deceit and Lies

Serious, dramatic, and spread over 20 episodes, Lady in Dignity is another great success in Korean drama. Shaw follows Ah Jin, a beautiful woman who enjoys her luxurious life by marrying into a wealthy family. But, thanks to her intelligence, she discovers the truth about President Ahn, who happens to be her father-in-law and the head of the house.

When a couple is looking for family help, they stumble upon the simple but sophisticated Bok-Ju, who seems to be the perfect addition to their family. But Bok-Ja has other plans, and after seducing President Ahn, he wants to take over the home.

With strong power themes, the dynamics between the characters make this book so compelling. The story itself isn’t bad, but the main attraction here is the characters, who all do a good job with their roles.

2. Sky Castle

Similarities – Sign and Mystery

Sky Castle is one of the highest-ranked networks and has long held this distinction until it was overtaken in 2020. This is a remarkable achievement, especially when we look back and see that the drama reached a meager 1% with the first episode.

The satirical drama revolves around four homemakers who live in an exclusive residential area and are desperately trying to get their children into college despite everything.

While simple, in theory, an examination of Sky Castle’s class and culture partially explains why the show works as well as it does. In addition, there are many reflections on the pressures parents put on students with above-average education. All this makes Sky Castle one of the best Korean dramas and a must-see for any K-drama fan!

3. Reply 1988

Similarities – a tale of low fire

Considered one of the best plays in Korean drama, Reply 1988 is a true journey into the past – and perfect for erasing the bitterness of Penthouse life. Set amongst other similar dramas, Reply 1988 has a light and funny tone but finds its strength in the characters, who are well written and have plenty of dramatic moments.

Surreal and hilarious moments (Aigoo Kim Sajang!) mixed in with the most heartfelt and touching portions of this long story.

Divided into four different families and hailed as one of the most accurate representations of Korean life, this 20-episode series is divided into feature films in which we follow a good dozen characters from 1988 to 1994. Once again, there is a mix of romance, comedy, and drama, which means Firefly Lane fans should love this series.

4. Lie after lie

Similarities – lies, deceit, and characters

Lie After Lie is a classic makjang drama with just the right balance between soapy melodrama and quieter moments of reflection.

The story revolves around Ji Eun-soo, the daughter-in-law of a Chaebol family who seems to have everything. Unfortunately, her own life takes a bad turn when she is accused of murdering her violent husband and is sentenced to ten years in prison. She gives birth to a daughter there but has to leave her behind with a heavy heart.

Eun-soo and her father suspected foul play in the matter and turned to reporter KANG Ji-min to find out what had happened. As the plot thickens, Eun-soo is killed in an accident.

It’s an insane drama, and telling much more would detract from the story’s twists and turns. Suffice to say; this is one makajang you should definitely try.

5. Married World

Similarities – Signs and Deceptions

Married World is the most popular drama in the history of Korean cable television. And for a good reason. An excellent Korean adaptation of the British series Dr. Foster, the series manages to strike a balance between well-written characters and a plot that develops over time.

When a torrid affair occurs, the world of a marriage develops only episodically. The story here revolves primarily around a married couple whose mutual betrayal leads to a whirlwind of revenge, grief, forgiveness, and healing.

The lead actress, Kim Hee Ae, won the award for Best Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards, and the series also won the award for Best Director. This is, without a doubt, one of the best Korean dramas of 2020, and it’s worth watching if you haven’t already.

6. My Mister

Similarities – Drama and Healing

My Mister is a classic therapeutic drama that revolves around three middle-aged men and a strong, cold woman named Lee Ji-An.

The story itself revolves mainly around Dong-hoon, a married man whose world is turned upside down when his wife Yoon-hee (who is secretly having an affair with a high-ranking official at Dong-hoon’s work) wants a divorce. Worse, she wants to marry this man, Joon Young.

While Dong-hoon struggles with this reality, his unemployed older brother Sang-hoon is also separated from his wife. Meanwhile, Gi Hoon’s younger brother dreams of becoming a director. All of these characters come together where the drama naturally begins.

As the series progresses, the reason for Yoon Hee’s adventure quickly becomes clear, while IU, as the icy Ji-An, really helps move this drama forward.

7. Big Little Lies

Similarities – Symbols that keep secrets

While the pointless second season somewhat detracts from the experience, the first season of Big Little Lies is a damn perfect story. With incredible acting, a mystery that slowly burns out, and amazing discoveries in 7 episodes, Big Little Lies is without a doubt one of the best miniseries in recent memory.

The story essentially follows the three mothers and their families. A struggling Madeline struggles with her children growing up and no longer needing her while dealing with conflicting feelings about her current husband, Ed.

There are also tensions between Nathan and his new wife Bonnie, while Jane struggles to find her son Ziggy again after he moves to the city, accused of biting Renata’s daughter at school. Their feud is the glue that holds everything together, but there’s a much darker central secret at work.

And she comes in the form of Celeste, who seems to have a perfect life with her twin sons and handsome husband, Perry. But unfortunately, underneath this painful veil of smiles and laughter are unsustainable relationships based on violence and fear. It’s something to look at.

8. Penthouse

Similarities – Order paper

The Korean Penthouse drama is pure makjang. For Koreans, the term simply means extremely dramatic and exaggerated to become an exciting guilty pleasure in which anything can happen. This happens to be an excellent example of what Penthouse can offer.

The main plot of Penthouse, with an order of 3 seasons and lots of drama, revolves around a girl named Seol-A, who is born on the 49th floor. On the second floor of a luxury apartment complex called the Hera Palace. Who pushed her? And why is that?

Although the crime element takes up a lot of time here, the various issues, relationships, and outrageous stunts make this film so intriguing.

There are also many different characters, and the bad guys are very easy to hate. But, if you’re looking for a solid binge-watch show, this series has more drama in one episode than Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) has in an entire season.

9. Desperate Housewives

Similarities – Characters, Romance, and Mystery

If you haven’t seen Desperate Housewives yet, you’re missing out. At first glance, it looks like a simple trashy soap opera with few redeeming qualities. However, only Under the Hood is a fascinating and entertaining show that weaves many mysteries and truths through girlfriends’ lives in a suburban neighborhood.

The mysterious suicide of a neighbor is the catalyst for all this gossip, but it quickly becomes a reality in a surprisingly convincing way. The way these characters develop and the secrets they begin to keep make this film so intriguing.

10. Sex and the City

Similarities – Girl Power

The last title, Sex and the City, is a funny, squeaky-clean, and well-executed series spread over 6 seasons of live-action (and 2 movies, but let’s forget about that). The drama’s thread revolves around four (mostly single) New York women who mix love, sex, and relationships with an ever-changing story of belonging in a rapidly changing world.

Carrie Bradshaw and her famous romance with Mr. Bigwig make up the bulk of the action, while sexy Samantha Jones comically assists the team. Miranda Hobbs is the wisest member of the group, while the quiet Charlotte York slowly crawls out of her shell as the season progresses.

As with any series of this length, there are a few good and bad episodes, but for the most part, Sex and the City grows and never seems to slow down until the emotional end.

So here are 10 TV series you can watch when you’re done with love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) on Netflix.
