The Nvidia Titan X is a high-end graphics card from Nvidia. It has a mighty yet energy-efficient chip that can process more than 3 TFLOPS computing performances. The GTX 1080 Ti is the latest graphics card released by NVIDIA for gamers looking to upgrade their PC gaming experience with a new top-of-the-line GPU.
When it comes to offering the most significant quality graphics cards money can buy, Nvidia has always been in the lead. Today, we will evaluate two of Nvidia’s best-performing GPUs, the Titan X and the GTX 1080 Ti.
We felt it was interesting comparing some of Nvidia’s current flagship GPUs with the super 20 series slated to debut in a few weeks. Don’t worry; we’ll compare the new awesome card against the Titan and the 1080 Ti as well.
For those unfamiliar with the Titan X, it is a Pascal graphics card for gamers released in August 2016. It’s based on the GP102 graphics processor and developed using a 16nm technology. The card comes with an astounding 12GB of GDDR5X RAM and supports DirectX 12.0, among other technologies. In a nutshell, it’s powerful.
Like many modern-day GPUs, the Titan X is a 10.5-inch long dual-slot card. It features a 1417Mhz Clock at the Start and a 1531Mhz Clock Booster.
The Titan X is up there with the fastest and most powerful GPUs on the market right now. The Titan X’s complete specs are shown below.

As you can see, the Titan X has an impressive Clock at the Start of 1.42Ghz and a Clock Booster of 1.53Ghz, figures almost identical to that of the GTX 1080 Ti. The Titan and 1080 have the same 3584 CUDA Cores are graphics processing units. However, the Titan has more memory, 12GB over the 1080s and 11GB.
The Titan’s TDP is 250W, which is, once again, utterly identical to the GTX 1080 Ti.
So, as you can see, these two cards are pretty similar in terms of specifications, but how do they compare real-world performance? So, first, let’s look at Titan and then compare the two.
Performance Titan X
I believe we can state categorically that this card will blow your AAA game titles out of the water. The Titan X can handle whatever task you throw at it, and it does it in breathtaking 4K resolution. It’s one of the few GPUs that can consistently offer 60 frames per second in super HD 4k in most main engines.
At 4K, the Titan X is unquestionably one of the most powerful GPUs available. In addition, it’s 20% quicker than any custom GTX 1080, making it much superior to the bulk of other cards on the market.
The image below displays benchmarking findings from Techpowerup, which clearly show Titan X coming in fifth place overall compared to some of the major market leaders.
Unfortunately for the Titan X, it is defeated by the 1080 Ti by a razor-thin margin, a pattern that will continue as the story progresses. The 1080 Ti outperforms 1080 by 3% on average, which isn’t much, but it’s still a win.

As you can see, the Titan X is trounced by the 1080 Ti by a little over 400 points again. However, the RTX 2080 Ti (or “big daddy,” as I like to call it) much outperforms the Titan.
Aside from pure benchmarking numbers, I’d want to talk about temps for a minute. A blower-style fan is clearly seen on the Titan X. For those unfamiliar, this implies that a blower-style fan will suck the air into the card and blow it out the rear rather than moving it about your build as aftermarket cards generally do. As a consequence, the whole construction becomes cooler.
In stressful conditions, the fan will spin at 2,500 RPM and make a loud noise, increasing the fan’s efficiency by up to 50%. However, it must be acknowledged that nothing about it is particularly repulsive.
1080 Ti vs. Titan X
So, how does this Titan stack up against the monster GTX 1080 Ti, as many people are presently asking? So, we’ll do our best to simplify things for you.
The Titan and the 1080Ti are pretty close right across the board. Same CUDA Cores are graphics processing units., pretty similar clock speeds (1080Ti just edging it), almost identical Bandwidth of Memory, same TDP, processor, and Transistors. One noticeable difference is memory. Whereas the GTX 1080Ti has 11GB, the Titan has 12GB. But how much difference does that make?
The benchmarks for both of these cards are relatively similar, and to be honest, that’s because their specs are very similar. The same may be stated about the in-game FPS in various games. In 4K ultra, both cards breach the 50-frame-per-second barrier, and in many games, they will surpass the 70-frame-per-second barrier. However, the difference between the two cards is negligible, with the most notable change being 3-5 frames per second.
So, what conclusions can we draw from the information gathered? It’s reasonable to say that deciding between the Titan X and the 1080Ti is a challenging task, particularly if you want the best graphics performance. Both the Titan and the 1080Ti are almost identical in virtually every way; however, the 1080Ti is likely to beat out the Titan in benchmarks.
Both cards function well. However, I believe the Titan will lose the fight in the long term owing to the tremendous demand and popularity of the 1080Ti.
