The Dapper Wallet is a stylish wallet that makes it easy to hold all your cards in one place. It boasts RFID protection, touchscreen access, and more than enough space for even the most prominent wallets.

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet is a wallet used as a cardholder, coin purse, or money clip. It has built-in RFID protection and comes in three colors: black, brown, and gray.

When it comes to wallets, we want something simple, well-made, and large enough to hold all of our cards and cash—and the Dango D01 Dapper Wallet checks all of these boxes.

This wallet is well-made, smartly designed, and compact. It’s one of several in Dango’s D-Series, but for this review, we’ll be focused on the D01.

Aesthetics & Materials

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet Material and LogoThe word “dapper” fits the Dango D01 Dapper Wallet well. It has a high-end appearance, and feels that we feel at ease wearing it in both professional and informal settings.

We’ve been wearing the Jet Black/Satin Silver combination for the last month and love its simplicity. This wallet is also available in four additional hues that you may check out at the time of this review if you’re looking for something brighter or more heritage.

Dango kept the branding on this wallet to a minimum, which we love. The leather on the front and the silicone band on the rear are embossed with their emblem. They’re perfect for adding subtle, classy, and integrated accents.

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet Frame and LeatherLet’s move on to the supplies. The D01 Dapper Wallet boasts an aluminum frame held together by stainless steel fasteners to make it lovely and strong. There’s also some top grain leather on the front and back, one of the most excellent leathers available. Although this wallet may add more weight to your pockets than others, it is still light compared to the materials utilized.

This device also has a thick silicone strap on the rear that feels pleasant and sturdy in hand. We’ve been carrying our cash around in this strap, and it’s kept it safe. This band may also be replaced if it becomes damaged or breaks, which is impossible with regular leather wallets.

However, you may prefer some of the features found in a standard wallet, such as a complete cash sleeve or a coin compartment. The D01 Dapper Wallet lacks both of these features, which isn’t a problem if you carry cards—it all depends on your tastes and use case.

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet Paracord HandleThere are a few more cool features on this wallet as well. You’ll notice a paracord handle on one corner, which we’ve found useful for getting this thing out of our pockets. Paracord is also helpful to have available in an emergency, such as if you need to build a splint. (However, although we’ve seen Scrubs in its entirety several times, we’re not physicians.) As a result, take it with a grain of salt.)

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet Bottle OpenerYou’ll see a bottle opener on one end, which comes in useful when you need to open one. We haven’t had to use it during our testing, but we like the attention that went into the design of this wallet. You may also add different accessories to this wallet according to your needs, like multi-tools and tethers, among other things.

The Wallet’s Interior

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet Front Card SlotThis wallet can contain up to 12 cards and has two compartments to keep them in. The first is a removable metal plate with a tab on the front of the wallet that acts as a pocket that you can raise to insert your cards. You can pull a card out by pushing it up from the bottom or lifting the tab and pulling it out that way. Unfortunately, when we attempt to get cards in and out of this wallet, the plate slips a little, mainly when it’s almost empty.

We should also mention that the cards you retain in this location are sluggish to access. Lifting the tab needs two hands, and there’s no quick way to spread out the cards to identify the one you need—which makes for a frustrating encounter at the cash register when we have to pull out all of our cards to get to the proper one. The cards tend to become caught when we slide them back in.

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet Cash StrapThen there’s a sleeve on the rear that can comfortably hold up to three cards. The top card is the simplest, but getting to the middle or bottom card requires pulling out all three and fanning them out. We’ve also discovered that storing cash inside the silicone band might make it much more difficult to access your cards.

At the very least, you may rest easy knowing that your cards are secure from thieves, thanks to RFID-blocking technology that stops your information from being taken out of thin air. Of course, we don’t know how often this kind of assault is, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry, right?

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet ComparisonWe compared the Dango D01 Dapper Wallet to other wallets in its category to see how it compares in terms of access. You can swiftly and effortlessly thumb your cards out of the top of the Trayvax Contour Wallet and take the one you need. It costs twice as much (about 140 dollars), but it provides double as quick access to your cards, which is worth noting.

We also compared it to The Ridge Wallet—Titanium, which seems to be the middle of the three options. It works similarly to the D01 Dapper Wallet in that you can push your cards up with your thumb on one end, but we’ve found that The Ridge performs a better job of fanning out the cards, so we don’t have to remove them all.

Dango D01 Dapper Wallet in DetroitWe’re not saying it’s hard to get your cards in and out of the D01 Dapper Wallet, but it is built exclusively for cards, and having to fiddle with the tab every time we need one can be a deal-breaker for you, so bear that in mind when buying a daily wallet.
