Business on the front, party on the back – that’s how the company describes the recently released Tecno Spark 7P. While the device comes with some of the basic features we’ve come to expect from Tecno Spark series devices, we noticed a few features similar to transfers from older devices in the series, which raises the question of whether it’s worth upgrading to the Tecno Spark 7P now.

Has the company delivered a device worthy of replacement, or is it a device that offers a new feature or two while retaining features we may or may not have liked on the older devices? First, let’s take a look at the Tecno Spark 7P price in Nigeria, full specifications, and a complete review.

Spark Techno 7P Price in Nigeria

How much does the Tecno Spark 7P cost in Nigeria? The price of the Tecno Spark 7P is 67,000 Nigerian zloty in Nigeria. So if you are planning to get the device, you should be able to see the price of the Tecno Spark 7P in Nigeria from Slot at about NGN 70,000. I would recommend buying from Slot Nigeria or any other leading store like Jumia, Konga, 3cHub, or Pointek. You can be sure they are selling genuine hardware, and you will have peace of mind in case of any problems with the device.

1. Bodywork and Exterior

In many cases, the first thing to notice, and what the company is trying to use as a selling point for the Tecno Spark 7P, is the device’s slim design, which clocks in at around 9.15mm. Another look at the thickness of the older Tecno Spark series devices shows that the Tecno Spark 7P is the thickest device than the Spark Go 2020, Spark 5 Pro, and Spark 5, the last three devices in the Spark series. In terms of thickness alone, the Spark 7P is almost the thickest device in the Spark series, so thinness is not a distinguishing factor as far as we are concerned.

Besides its thickness, the Tecno Spark 7P was quite heavy for our smartphone test and compared to the Spark Go device, it seems slightly lighter than the latter, which means the Spark 7P gets a pass in our weight test.

On the back, the device has a similar aesthetic to previous devices in the series, with three cameras on one side and an AI feature and flash on the other. The main difference between the Spark 7P and the Spark 5 Pro is that we get the AI feature.

The device is also available in 4 different colors: Summer Mojito, Spruce Green, Magnet Black, and Alpine Blue, 171.9 mm high and 77.9 mm wide.

2. Spark Display

The Spark 7P has a 6.8-inch edge-to-edge display, an improvement over the 6.6-inch display on the Spark 5 line and the 6.5-inch display on the 2020 Spark Go line. Seeing the diving experience improve on the Spark 7P is a definite improvement, in my opinion. We played a few games, watched Netflix movies, surfed the internet, and even read documents, and the screen performed much better than previous Spark devices.

3. Plug Camera

The Tecno Spark 7P has an 8-megapixel camera with dual flash on the front and a 16-megapixel AI triple camera with quad flash on the back. The Spark 7P also features an AI lens, which is an upgrade over previous camera versions. The AI lens provides better ambient light while shooting. The shallow depth of field also allows you to take better, sharper photos while taking up more space, making this unit ideal for shooting large gatherings.

Other Tecno Spark 7P camera features include the Video Bokeh feature, which blurs the background and focuses on the photographed subject. There is also the Video Beautification feature, which provides a range of beautification effects for your videos. Another interesting feature is the smile shot, which essentially indicates when a smile is detected.

Overall, we give the Tecno Spark 7P a pass for camera specs, as it is an upgrade from the older models in the Tecno Sparkline.

4. Under the bonnet

Under the hood of the Tecno Spark, 7P is the 2.0GHz frequency we had on the Spark 5 Pro and Spark 5; you also have the Helio G70 octa-core processor, an 820MHz GPU with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is an upgrade from the 60Hz we find on older versions of the Spark series devices. All this ensures that the device runs at a reasonable speed and remains smooth and jerky rather than slow and sluggish. In addition, our testing noticed that the Spark 7P has a benchmark score that is almost twice as high as previous devices in the series.

The Spark 7P comes with HiOS 7.5 and Android 11 as its operating system, which is a huge improvement over other devices in the Tecno lineup. This makes the Tecno Spark 7P the first Tecno phone to feature the Android 11 operating system and probably one of the first devices in the Nigerian and African smartphone market to feature the latter operating system.

5. Battery

The Spark 7P also has a 5000 mAh battery, just like the Spark Go, Spark 5, and Spark 5 Pro, so there’s virtually no difference in that area. But, again, like all the Spark devices mentioned above, this phone has a standby time of around 14 days, with a usage time of around 18-20 hours if you are a heavy user of the device.

We played games, watched Netflix shows, and listened to music without interruption in our test. We lasted about 19 hours, although experience shows that this time steadily decreases as the device’s battery wears out over time. Charging this smartphone from 0 to 100% took about 1 hour and 45 minutes, but you can expect it to take longer if you use it while charging.

6. Memory

As for RAM, the Spark 7 comes with 4GB of RAM. The internal storage is 128GB for the top model and 64GB for the base model. Therefore, you can expect a price difference between the two models. While using the device, multitasking was as good for the average user. However, the 4GB of RAM is increasingly less suitable for users of more extensive devices, so you may want to consider its use before opting for the Spark 7P.

7. Other functions

One of the new features we saw on the device is the App Twin feature, which allows you to manage multiple social media accounts without logging in and out. The chat balloon enables you to reply to messages from different social media applications without having to minimize the applications. We can not forget to mention a handy feature, the theme of automatic darkness, which allows you to avoid dealing with bright and intense lights at night, which can affect the quality of your sleep.

Conclusion

Should you buy the Tecno Spark 7 Pro? Anyway, the device is great. But I may have some concerns if you are considering switching from the Spark 5 Pro. Suppose your Spark 5 Pro works well (many users have complained about the poor quality of the Spark 5 Pro). You don’t need to upgrade to the Spark 7 Pro, as both devices have pretty much the same specs, with the difference in the operating system and probably nothing exceptional in terms of speed and screen.
